Indoor Cat5e cabling is available in several types to suit different building codes and performance needs:

• Standard PVC (Riser Rated): This is the most common indoor cable, suitable for most projects supporting up to 1Gbps speeds. It is designed for vertical runs between floors (risers) but is not rated for air-handling spaces.  

• Plenum (CMP) Rated: Required for use in plenum spaces (areas used for air circulation, like drop ceilings or raised floors). These cables use fire-retardant materials that emit less smoke in the event of a fire.

• Shielded (STP) CMR: This cable includes shielding to protect data from electromagnetic interference (EMI), making it ideal for environments with high electrical noise.

• Plenum Shielded (STP) CMP: Combines the fire-safety benefits of a plenum-rated jacket with electromagnetic shielding for maximum protection in sensitive commercial environments.

• Stranded Core PVC: Unlike solid core cables, stranded cables are more flexible and are typically used for making patch cords that need to withstand frequent bending.
